Recent trend in coined terms
キモかわいい
少し前から若い人を中心に「エロかっこいい」や「キモかわいい」などという造語がはやっています。「エロかっこいい」はある女性歌手のキャッチフレーズで、「エロい」と「かっこいい」がくっついた言葉です。「キモかわいい」は「気持ち悪い」と「かわいい」からできた言葉で、アンガールズというお笑いコンビがその代表だそうです。
気持ち悪くてかわいいのか、気持ち悪いけどかわいいのか、正確な意味はわかりませんが、いずれも個性が強調される言葉ですね。わたしはアンガールズが好きではないので、あの二人がかわいいとはとても思えませんが・・・。
ほかにも「ダサい」を使った「ダサかっこいい」や「ダサかわいい」、「ブサイク」＋「かわいい」で「ブサかわいい」や、同じく「ブサイク」＋「イケてる」で「ブサイケ」もあります。
これらの造語が具体的にどんなものを指すのかは、主観が入るのでここでは説明しきれません。お知り合いの日本人にきいてください。きっとおもしろい会話ができることでしょう。

「キモかわいい」ってはつみみだけど、気持ち悪いよりキモいの造語じゃないのか。
ところでキモいとは本来的に「気持ち悪い」の収縮でしょうか

I really appreciate them and I am sure many others do.
When I see written Japanese, a big mass of text – full of kanji, it discourages me from reading (thus hindering my study of kanji).
The article length and format of the articles on this website are perfect – especially because they have the additional, generous, audio files.
